The advantages of offering commission for iSale is that you will motivate your affiliates to market your programme by banners on their websites and blogs. In other words, you will get great exposure and awareness of your brand with even greater ROI. Kind of like paying for banner impressions, but in a result-based model.
Compared to your regular tracking, which is based on visitors clicking on a link or a banner on your affiliates websites, iSale is based on visitors viewing one of your banners.
When you offer commission for iSale the chain of tracking events will start when the visitor loads your banner in his/hers web browser. The chain of tracking events will look like this: Impression » Sale » Commission.
For the iSale commission, the tracking has a different expiration time. Most common for iSales is that the tracking is valid for the next 48 hours. That means that the visitor that got an impression and viewed your banners needs to complete a purchase in your online store within 48 hours for the commission to be valid.
As usual you will decide what commission works for you. Our recommendation is to offer your affiliates a commission for iSale that is 50% of your usual commission. Example: If your standard commission in your programme is 20%, then an appropriate commission for iSale would be 10%.
The model we apply is to provide the affiliate with the last click all of the commission. Translated to iSale, that means the affiliate with the last impression will get the commission.
In cases when a visitor has tracking from both a click and an impression, the click will be prioritized.
